Europe is the crib of modern civilization; with many periods of empires, monarchies and dictatorships ruling much of its history. Since the beginning of the European Union, trade, business and industries have prospered in each individual country, France with its wines and designer clothing, Switzerland although staying out of the EU remains a pillar of European banking and financial services, Germany's auto industries merging, creating one of the largest auto companies. The UK being the fifth largest economy in the world and where Industrial Revolution began and boasting the world's largest financial center with the London Stock Exchange.
